Position Summary / Overview: 
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician (Mechanical Systems) to join our engineering team. This temporary position is ideal for a highly skilled hands-on professional with experience building, troubleshooting, and supporting complex robotic or automated mechanical systems. 

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in robotics, industrial automation, aerospace, medical devices, or a similarly complex electromechanical industry, with deep expertise in mechanical assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and system validation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build, assemble, integrate, and test complex robotic and electromechanical systems from engineering drawings, CAD models, and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform root cause analysis on prototypes and production equipment.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and software engineers during product development and validation.
  • Support prototype builds, engineering change implementation, and design verification testing.
  • Recommend improvements to product designs, tooling, assembly methods, and documentation to improve quality and manufacturability.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve assembly procedures, test methods, and technician work instructions.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Maintain organized workspaces, tools, fixtures, and test equipment.
  • Assist with failure investigations, reliability testing, and field issue resolution as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or technical degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Robotics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field (Associate degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an engineering technician in robotics, industrial automation, or another complex electromechanical industry.
  • Experience assembling and troubleshooting precision mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and mechanical specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and torque tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience supporting prototype development and engineering validation activities.
  • Proven ability to organize work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with robotic systems, autonomous equipment, or industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, and motion control systems.
  • Experience with machine shop equipment and fabrication techniques.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Experience using PLM, ERP, or manufacturing documentation systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
