This PM backfills for an existing team that supports three Appian build projects. One goes into production Q4, the second Q2 2023, and the third Q3 2023. Certified ScrumMaster required. PMI certified or equivalent experience required
Summary:
The Project manager leads initiatives as part of the Program Management Office (PMO). The Program Management Office is responsible for overseeing the planning, sourcing, and execution of project work including the definition, design, implementation, testing, training, and transitioning to a changed operational state within the organization. This is an important role, is hands-on, and requires managing a collection of related projects and their related resources. A background in Agile Project and Change Management with a focus on Insurance industry specific solutions is essential. An additional key part of the role is to provide guidance and direction to the business community concerning vendor and project management best practices including budgeting, measuring vendor and project performance, and risk mitigation related to project risks.
Responsibilities:

Support the Department Manager in defining a project-based approach to delivering the tangible outcomes a defined effort (project, release, sprint) is intended to achieve.

Assess stakeholder requirements around project objectives to determine sourcing needs and provide vendor management support to identify, select, and onboard 3rd party products and services.

Plan and execute project work using an iterative process that requires managing the creation of and prioritization of stories by business Subject Matter Experts (SME), preparing for a Sprint by organizing Quality Assurance and Software Engineering pre-requisites, executing the Sprint, and closing the Sprint by completing all work.

Support and encourage healthy communication across all levels by tracking, monitoring and communicating progress across the project(s) using JIRA, reports and activities such as Scrum of Scrums.

Proactively recognize and resolve conflicts between projects through collaboration and consensus.

Ensure a high-quality outcome by coordinating release activities across the Project e.g. activities related to testing, user acceptance, and lessons learned

Support the training and adoption of tools by project team members to manage project information such as JIRA, Smartsheets, Excel, and Microsoft Office.

Track and report project related metrics such as service levels, progress, risks, issues, and costs.

Effectively facilitate meetings to drive resolution of work, issues, risks, and decisions.
Competencies:
A Project Manager is expected to understand multiple disciplines and perform across phases of an effort with increasing competency. They must have sufficient experience to operate with minimal guidance. As a result, 8 - 12 years performing Waterfall and Agile Project Management of IT initiatives within the insurance industry is highly preferred:
