A well-established manufacturing company with over 10 years of success and $375+ million in revenue is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Human Resources / Head of Human Resources to lead all HR functions across their multi-site manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for developing and executing workforce strategies that support both hourly teams and salaried corporate staff, with a strong emphasis on recruitment and retention in rural communities, payroll and benefits administration, compliance, and building a strong, values-driven culture. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience managing HR operations in a rural, labor-intensive environment—along with technical expertise in modern HRIS/HRMS platforms such as Workday, UKG (formerly Kronos/Ultimate), or ADP.

Vice President of Human Resources Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Strategy
- Lead full-cycle recruiting across multiple facilities and corporate teams, adapting strategies to meet unique site-specific labor needs.
- Build strong local and regional recruiting pipelines through community engagement, workforce development programs, and partnerships with schools and agencies.
- Oversee strategies to reduce turnover, improve onboarding, and promote internal advancement for hourly and salaried employees.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee payroll processing, timekeeping, and benefits administration for hourly and salaried employees across all locations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including OSHA, EEO, FLSA, and I-9 regulations.
- Standardize HR policies and practices across locations while remaining flexible to site-specific operational needs.
Technology & Systems (HRIS/HRMS)
- Lead the implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of HR systems, including timekeeping, payroll, benefits, and employee self-service tools.
- Ensure the effective use of platforms such as Workday, UKG/Kronos, ADP, or other enterprise HR systems to streamline workflows and improve data accuracy.
- Generate and analyze workforce metrics and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making and compliance tracking.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build and lead a dispersed HR team, developing site-level HR managers and corporate support.
- Advise senior leadership on organizational design, workforce planning, succession strategies, and labor market dynamics.
- Oversee training programs for compliance, leadership development, and performance management.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and respect across all sites, with a strong focus on company values.
- Implement and manage employee engagement programs tailored to a diverse, multilingual workforce.
- Maintain HR presence and accessibility at each plant and office to ensure employee trust, communication, and responsiveness.
Vice President of Human Resources Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in multi-site manufacturing-type environment
- Strong knowledge of HRIS/HRMS systems—experience with Workday, UKG/Kronos, ADP, or similar enterprise platforms is required.
- Deep understanding of rural labor markets and experience implementing recruiting and retention strategies in rural or remote areas.
- Familiarity with compliance and workforce documentation in regulated industries (e.g., OSHA, FSIS, E-Verify).
- Experience managing payroll and benefits administration across hourly and salaried teams.
- Cultural competency with diverse and multilingual workforces is essential; Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful
- Willingness to travel regularly to processing facilities and community locations as needed (Central Virginia)
