Senior Family Law Paralegal

Location: Fairfax, Virginia – onsite, in the office
Salary: $50,000 - $80,000 per year, plus bonus potential

Job Description:  The firm is seeking an experienced Senior Family Law Paralegal to join its dynamic team in Fairfax, Virginia, to meet an immediate need. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in Virginia family law and possess a meticulous attention to detail. This role requires the ability to manage complex family law cases from inception to resolution, working closely with attorneys to ensure exceptional client service. The position requires a minimum of 20-25 billable hours per week and requires full-time, in-office presence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including complaints, answers, and discovery responses, with precision and adherence to Virginia family law standards.
  • Manage and organize complex family law litigation cases, ensuring all deadlines, filings, and client communications are handled efficiently.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategy development.
  • Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel to facilitate case progression and document exchange.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed case files, ensuring compliance with firm protocols and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist attorneys during hearings, mediations, and trials by preparing exhibits, witness materials, and other necessary documentation.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a paralegal in Virginia family law.
  • In-depth knowledge of Virginia family law procedures and practices.
  • Proven ability to draft complaints, answers, discovery responses, and other legal documents with high accuracy.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in managing complex litigation tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client and court interactions.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, in-office environment.
