Senior Buyer - Contract Manufacturing
The Senior Buyer for Contract Manufacturing will be part of a team that is responsible for the procurement of raw materials, goods, and services for electronic power devices. This includes supporting the master production schedule and MRP demand by ensuring materials standards are met; and managing outside vendors (specifically Contract Manufacturers) through the processes of qualifying, obtaining quotes, examining bids, and making award decisions. You will focus on developing strategies and tactics for our contract manufactures and including selection and expansion of products/assemblies and vendors.
You will also be required to maintain detailed documentation and effectively communicate with the operations and technical support teams. Considerations for safety, quality and delivery are required in all manufacturing decisions. As a team member, you should be able to perform within the principles of Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time and Total Quality Management systems/processes.
The Senior Buyer for contract manufactures will be a focal point for Quality and Engineering during supplier selections, rating of supplier performance and maintaining supplier relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop strategies and tactics for our contract manufactures and including selection and expansion of products/assemblies and vendors.
- Assess supplier and market details for alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager for CM Expansion
- Devise ways and means to maximize commodity buying efficiency and minimize risks.
- Collaborate with commodities team to ensure deadlines are met without fail.
- Develop and manage pricing strategies.
- Encourage team spirit and discuss performance periodically.
- Draft proposals to manage contracts and negotiations.
- Preserve and promote company standards by building a strong and self-sufficient commodity supply base.
- Collaborate with suppliers on improving quality.
- Plan Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR’s) for Contract Manufactures / Suppliers
- Adhere to and ensure the compliance of XP Power Code of Conduct, all Company policies and procedures, and housekeeping standards.
- Study and analyse system workflows to ensure smooth and efficient flow of materials.
- All other duties assigned by his/her manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 5+ years in supply chain, purchasing, commodity and contract manufacturer management
- Proven ability to build strong supplier relationships.
- Demonstrated expertise in ERP & MRP systems and transactions.
- Expert level experience in excel skills, ability to use excel analytics.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with people at all levels & educational backgrounds.
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team.
- Ability to provide performance management and career development coaching to team members.
- Knowledge of manufacturing controls required – Capacity planning, inventory control, Bills of Materials, Engineering drawings and Change Orders, Document Control, and Work Instructions.
- Experienced MS Office user; Teams, OneDrive. Visio and Smartsheet experience encouraged
