Position Overview

The Remote Monitoring and Diagnostic Engineer is responsible for the management of a monitoring platform for a globally installed and expanding energy storage install base to ensure optimal performance, safety, availability and sustainability of sites.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Field Service Engineers to identify and quickly diagnose and repair product and performance issues. They will also contribute to conducting system testing and using sites operational data to run data analysis to evaluate performance, generate different metrics needed in performance reports as requested by customers or needed to meet warranty obligations and to also use these analytics in predictive maintenance.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage remote monitoring platform and processes with a focus on continuous improvement and development of the platform and processes
  • Develop systems performance analysis and monitoring dashboards for internal and external use
  • Identify and resolve site performance issues and drive actions to improve performance
  • Run analysis on operational data to ensure enhanced availability performance and safety of battery energy storage systems and components and ensure compliance with product warranties
  • Provide analytics support to the Field Service team and collaborate together to understand and troubleshoot issues with installed systems
  • Analyze data for anomaly detection, performance degradations and correlate them to causes
  • Develop understanding of battery technology and contribute performance insight to product development
  • Work with sustaining engineering and Field Service Engineers to improve remote troubleshooting procedures, faults, and alerts.
  • Work with development team to build remote monitoring and data acquisition platforms
  • Optimize event logic/alerts to minimize time to identify issues and repair system
  • Perform software, firmware updates and configuration parameter changes when needed
  • Communicate and work with customers on performance concerns and issues
Skills and abilities:
  • Experience developing and running metrics and reports
  • Experience running remote monitoring and data acquisition platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Experience working with line command in a Unix / Linux environment
  • Ability to learn and understand the software architecture and algorithms required to support a battery storage management system
  • Ability to effectively and clearly present information, analysis results and respond to questions
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvements driven by conclusions based on data analysis
  • Experience in data science, statistical analysis and data mining techniques is a plus
  • Experience in the energy renewables and/or storage is a plus

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years direct experience in PV solar and/or BESS systems preferred
