About the firm:  Join a small boutique firm as the Supervising / Managing Attorney of their Personal Injury Division in Torrance, CA (must be in office 4 days/week – hybrid).  The team currently consists of approximately 20 employees and 8 attorneys and is expanding! Our client advocates for individuals who have sustained serious injuries due to the negligence of corporations, businesses, governmental entities, or individuals with insurance. Their focus spans a variety of injury cases, with a particular emphasis on brain, spine, and catastrophic injuries.  The founding attorney is an acclaimed trial lawyer boasting a track record of 50+ jury trials and has secured over $100 million for his clients. Recognized with prestigious awards, he is a respected advocate in personal injury & product liability, and is a dedicated board member of influential legal organizations.  Most of their cases settle prior to trial with a very high win ratio.

Supervising / Managing Attorney – Personal Injury Division:  We are in search of an experienced and driven Supervising Attorney to take a leadership role in overseeing both our litigation and pre-litigation personal injury teams. This position involves managing the full lifecycle of complex injury cases—from intake to final resolution—while supervising attorneys, legal support staff, and case management professionals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong litigation background, proven trial capabilities, and a passion for developing talent and delivering exceptional client outcomes.

Trial experience is highly preferred, but is not a requirement.

Compensation Summary:
  • Competitive salary, Bonus and Commission; commission is a % of the profit from the cases won and will be negotiated at the time of an offer. The firm typically does not accept cases with a potential value of under $750K-$1M.  Base salary target $250,000.00 - $300,000.00 with uncapped total compensation.
  • The firm also awards a 25% bonus of the net attorney fees on any cases the attorney brings in.
  • No business development required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
  • Previous experience in a Supervisory Attorney role, along with at least 6 or more years of related PI litigation / pre-litigation.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of around five legal professionals, including attorneys, case managers, and paralegals.
  • Direct the handling of approximately 50–60 litigation matters and 60 pre-litigation claims, ensuring progress across all stages.
  • Organize and lead weekly status meetings with legal teams to assess case developments, maintain momentum, and maximize case outcomes.
  • Partner with firm leadership to implement performance coaching, skills development, and regular feedback initiatives.
Case Management & Legal Direction
  • Guide legal strategies in personal injury matters involving auto collisions, slip-and-fall incidents, wrongful death claims, and severe injury cases.
  • Review and provide final approval on all legal documentation, including pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and settlement demands.
  • Maintain consistent and professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and partner attorneys throughout the case process.
  • Conduct depositions and prepare clients and witnesses—including experts—for testimony.
  • Ensure litigation files are trial-ready, managing timelines for discovery, expert disclosures, and courtroom filings.
  • Play an active role in trial proceedings, either as lead counsel or co-counsel, including prepping exhibits and coordinating expert testimony.
  • Lead mediation efforts by preparing comprehensive mediation briefs and taking a hands-on role in negotiations.
  • Oversee all tasks following resolution, including settlement agreement review, negotiation of medical liens, and distribution calculations.

  • Uphold strong client relationships through prompt, clear, and compassionate communication.
  • Address and resolve client concerns in a thoughtful, effective, and legally sound manner.
Compliance & Best Practices
  • Monitor team practices to ensure full compliance with legal ethics rules, state bar regulations, and court mandates.
  • Conduct periodic audits of workflows and case procedures to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
Analytics & Performance Reporting
  • Evaluate team productivity and performance through metrics such as average case values, time to resolution, and file movement.
  • Share insights and data-driven recommendations with senior leadership to inform strategic planning.
Professional Engagement & Business Growth
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, CLE sessions, and networking events to stay current on legal developments and support business expansion.
