• Nonprofit Critical Access Hospital located in a scenic rural community in eastern Montana
• Nationally recognized for quality and patient care excellence
Department Details
• Oversees approximately 20 staff members
• 3 Operating Rooms
• 200–225 cases per month
• Service lines include Orthopedics, ENT, General Surgery, Podiatry, and OB/GYN
• Reports directly to a highly tenured Chief Nursing Executive
• Primarily administrative role with occasional hands-on support during codes or emergent situations
Assignment Overview
A community hospital is seeking an Interim Director of Surgical Services following the retirement of the previous Director. This leadership position has been open since early May and requires an experienced perioperative leader who can provide immediate operational oversight and stability.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide operational leadership for Surgical Services
• Lead staff, physician relations, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives
• Support departmental stability during leadership transition
• Evaluate workflows and implement operational improvements
• Partner with physicians and executive leadership to drive patient care excellence
Ideal Background
• Previous Director-level Surgical Services leadership experience
• Strong perioperative operations background
• Community hospital or Critical Access Hospital experience highly preferred
• Demonstrated success leading teams, managing change, and improving department performance
• Available to start an interim assignment asap
