Interim Director / Manager – Emergency Department
Length of Assignment: Up to 12 months or longer

A 25 bed rural acute care hospital in Mississippi is seeking an experienced Interim Director or Manager to lead its Emergency Department during a period of transition. This role is expected to last up to one year or more as the hospital prepares for and implements a full EMR conversion.
Highlights:
  • Rural hospital participating in the CMS Rural Community Hospital Demonstration
  • Level IV Trauma Center
  • The department includes:
    • fast track beds
    • 15 ED beds
    • 25 FTEs
Scope of Responsibility:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Emergency Department
  • Staff scheduling and team leadership
  • Update and revise policies and procedures
  • Drive improvements in patient flow and ED throughput
  • Conduct workflow analysis and recommend process improvements
  • Foster collaboration between medical and nursing staff
The hospital's CNO has been directly managing the department for the past year, and is seeking an engaged interim leader to take over operational responsibility while supporting broader organizational goals.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous leadership experience in an Emergency Department setting
  • Strong operational and communication skills
  • Experience with EMR transitions a plus (especially Cerner)
