TypeDirect hire
Must hold an active Texas law license and be in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
Compensation / benefits: Base salary of $84k (most of the firm's Family Law attorneys typically earn between $120k - $140k while working normal hours). The firm covers 100% of the basic (Bronze) PPO health plan, with options to add family or upgrade at cost. Vision and dental plans may also be available. The firm offers flexible work arrangements, with no set hours, but requires attorneys to be in the office at least once a week for staff meetings and consultations. Most attorneys work remotely. While there is no retirement plan in place yet, attorneys can set up an IRA in the interim (the firm is working on adding a retirement plan).
The firm focuses exclusively on Family Law, including divorce, custody, and related matters. Compensation includes a guaranteed minimum each month, along with 1/3 of collected billables, with hourly rates ranging from $350 to $450 depending on experience. If the newly hired attorney's billables surpass the monthly minimum, they will receive the higher amount. For instance, billing 1,000 hours at a rate of $360 would result in an annual compensation of $120,000. The minimum is just a backstop for them to start up their caseload with us. New attorneys typically start with around 20 cases and gradually build their caseload to 50+ cases within 3-4 months. A full-time caseload typically ranges from 60-70 cases, with about half being active at any given time, as many family law cases experience pauses between hearings.
