The Director, R&D Engineering is a hands-on leader and will oversee all development and sustaining efforts including the continued evolution of the company’s breakthrough aesthetic skin technology, refinement and further development of the  company's core platform technology, and the development of commercial products from early-stage product concepts through supporting aftermarket launch. This position is responsible for partnering with commercial, regulatory, clinical, and operations, including early supply chain, design transfer from R&D to Manufacturing, any in-house R&D manufacturing efforts as well as project management and interfaces with external resources.

The Director, R&D Engineering, is expected to lead and drive a team of professionals, across the organization, driving employee development, teamwork, and innovation. 

In this role, you  will be responsible for:

  • Leads research and development activities for current product line and early innovation on future products.
  • Formulate and drives test plans and verification activities to support changes and new products.
  • Work with regulatory and clinical on new product and indication strategies.
  • Supports products on the market with sustaining engineering.
  • Accountable for meeting operational group strategic measures, developing business and strategic plans, organizational effectiveness, and vision and effectiveness
  • Strategic thinking and big picture orientation /business acumen with strong interactions with key external stakeholders including the KOL community.
  • This role requires a strong understanding of electromechanical engineering principles, experience in product development, and the ability to foster a culture of engineering excellence and accountability. 

Qualifications / Requirements:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Medical Device experience required
  • At least 12+ years in R&D and/or Engineering. 5+ year of Medical Device
  • Must have demonstrated track record in a leadership position with device experience.
  • Expert at achieving strong results in a matrix environment by leading through influence and deep collaboration across the enterprise.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills and ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels in the organization and with external customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Meaningful experience in strong execution of product launches and measurable track record of creating value through new innovations.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Preferred Area of Study: Electrical / Mechanical / Biomedical Engineering
  • Class II / Class III Medical Devices experience
