Chief Operating Officer - Greater Boston

Our client is advancing diagnostic technology to make precision and efficiency standard in medical imaging. Their intuitive, caregiver-focused solutions empower top healthcare institutions to deliver faster decisions and deeper care. Driven by purpose, they’re building a future where better care is accessible to all.  They are currently looking for a Chief Operations Officer who has a long tenure in medical devices to scale operations and drive strategic growth across their expanding portfólio. A background in medical imaging is a plus.

In this role, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across all core functions of the organization. This executive role ensures that business operations are efficient, scalable, and aligned with the company’s long-term objectives. The COO collaborates closely with the executive team to drive sustainable growth, optimize processes, and maintain consistent performance across departments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES include:

· Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard management-level staff.

· Oversee daily departmental operations and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

· Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.

· Manage employee relations, including disciplinary actions and terminations, in accordance with company policies.

Operational Strategy & Execution

· Lead the development and implementation of short- and long-term operational strategies to support corporate growth.

· Partner with senior leadership to define company goals and guide operational initiatives focused on productivity, cost control, and continuous improvement.

· Oversee daily operations, ensuring alignment with budgets, staffing plans, and strategic business objectives.

· Provide cross-functional leadership across operations, R&D, engineering, regulatory, manufacturing, and technical support teams.

· Foster team development through recruitment, performance management, and professional growth initiatives.

Performance & Process Optimization

· Drive operational excellence through data analysis and process improvement.

· Monitor performance metrics and adjust strategies or incentives as needed.

· Identify and implement technologies and systems that enhance resource utilization and operational agility.

· Ensure operational initiatives align with corporate strategies, including staffing, infrastructure, and process efficiency.

Governance & Compliance

· Establish and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and security protocols to ensure consistency and compliance across all operational functions.

· Review and approve project budgets, staffing projections, and resource allocations.

· Lead departmental budget planning, performance tracking, and operational reporting.

· Stay informed on emerging trends, tools, and technologies in operations and business management.

· Assess training needs and oversee the development of effective workforce training programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

· Minimum of 20 years of progressive leadership experience in the medical device industry, with a strong preference for experience in large capital equipment and B2B environments.

Skills & Competencies:

· Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Outlook, and web browsers.

· Familiarity with clinical and economic outcome data, reimbursement, and managed care policies is highly desirable.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data and provide strategic recommendations.

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

· Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

· Demonstrated leadership and autonomy with a focus on company growth and operational excellence.

· Ability to build strong working relationships and foster a collaborative team environment.

· Dependable, punctual, and committed to meeting accuracy and productivity goals.

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Travel Requirements:

· This position requires 30% of your work time to be dedicated to business travel

Physical Requirements:

· Interaction with x-ray devices requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including the use of dose monitoring equipment.
