Senior Business Development Manager – Corporate & Private Equity
The role is Hybrid and location-flexible, with a strong preference for candidates based on the East Coast (particularly New York), though Chicago and other firm markets may also be considered.
Compensation & Benefits
Ideal Candidate Profile: The firm is particularly interested in candidates who have supported Corporate, Private Equity, or Finance practices at competing law firms, and who understand the dynamics of capital markets, deal flow, and sponsor-driven transactions. This individual will operate as a strategic partner to attorneys, helping shape the firm’s go-to-market strategy within some of the most competitive sectors of the legal market.
Key Responsibilities:
The role is Hybrid and location-flexible, with a strong preference for candidates based on the East Coast (particularly New York), though Chicago and other firm markets may also be considered.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary Range, and office options to work a Hybrid schedule out of:
- New York: $120,000 – $182,000 (Manager level) | up to $236,000 (Senior Manager level)
- Washington, DC / Chicago / Tysons: $110,000 – $167,000 | up to $217,000
- Richmond / Charlotte: $100,000 – $152,000 | up to $197,000
- Bonus: Annual discretionary performance bonus, paid in March
- Salary Growth: Merit-based salary increases
- Hybrid Schedule: Flexible hybrid work environment

This individual will operate as a strategic partner to attorneys, helping shape the firm’s go-to-market strategy within some of the most competitive sectors of the legal market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with practice leaders to develop and execute strategic business development plans for the Corporate & Private Equity practice.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to partners, helping position the firm to win high-value corporate, finance, and private equity engagements.
- Lead the strategy and execution of pitches, RFP responses, and client presentations.
- Identify new business opportunities and cross-selling initiatives across practice groups and offices.
- Develop market positioning and messaging that differentiates the firm in the corporate, finance, and capital markets sectors.
- Manage the collection and organization of deal and matter experience for marketing and client-facing materials.
- Support the firm’s key client initiatives, including reporting, relationship development, and industry insights.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop events, seminars, and thought leadership initiatives aimed at private equity sponsors, financial institutions, and corporate clients.
- Work with competitive intelligence resources to deliver market research and client insights to practice leaders.
- Assist with lateral integration strategy, ensuring new partners are positioned effectively within the firm’s client ecosystem.
- Contribute to legal rankings submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500) and other profile-raising initiatives.
- 8+ years of experience in business development, marketing, or practice development within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience supporting corporate, private equity, finance, or capital markets practices.
- Strong understanding of how transactional legal work is sourced, pitched, and won within large law firms.
- Experience developing strategic BD plans, client targeting initiatives, and pitch strategies.
- Ability to work closely with senior partners and practice leaders in a highly collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal work into compelling client messaging.
- Experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced professional services environment.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., DealCloud) and business development technologies preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
