The Field Service Depot Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, repair and upgrades medical devices in the field.   These may be systems that have issues during testing or in the field and are customer RMA returns. You will coordinate upgrades and other field activity to keep the field equipment at the current revision for both equipment and software.  

The Field Service Depot Engineer will reviews logs and data from the field to ensure systems are operating within normal parameters and will coordinate communications with the Customer Service reps to determine if service is needed.  Occasional overnight travel may be needed, as this engineer will represent the East Coast as the Field Service Engineer and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction.  The Engineer will also maintain all company property (inventory, tools, diagnostic equipment, etc.) in accordance with company policies. Maintains a high level of professional communication with Operations Team, Customer Service, Sales and provide feedback to R&D. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Diagnose and repair all designated products within an assigned service territory, including preventative maintenance, installations and upgrades per specific training, documentation and procedures 

  • Primary work location will be in the Boston area. Complete work assignments as directed from management and work schedules as dispatched by the Service Management team. 

  • Complete and submit a field service report daily when in the field and comply will all of the documentation and procurement procedures as outlined in our SOPs. 

  • Complete and submit a regular expense report according to company policies and procedures. 

  • Maintain spare parts inventory according to company guidelines and return specific spare parts as designated by policy. 

  • Interface with customers in a professional, pleasant, and calm demeanor. 

  • Other duties may include, but are not limited to, instructing customers on operation and maintenance of equipment. 

  • Maintains company-issued test equipment and support tools, including spare parts. 

  • Installs and provides equipment maintenance at trade shows. 

  • Properly conduct and document bio-decontamination of the systems prior to repairs being conducted. 

  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the proper flow, troubleshooting and testing of the systems and handpieces in support of our customers. 

 Experience and/or Training: 

  • 3 years of previous field service experience required. 

  • BS degree in Electronics, Engineering, Computer Technology, and related fields preferred or documented technical training.   

  • Theoretical understanding of basic electromechanical, electronic, and mechanical systems. 

  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting techniques and approaches. 

  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Must have strong computer skills with the ability to obtain specific certifications as required. 

  • Must have an aptitude and ability to work with hand tools and test equipment, understand how to properly handle PCBs and “sharps.”  After training be able to have a clear understanding of how the various boards, systems and error codes all interrelate.
