Project Manager – NPD Consumer Electronics Device – Tulsa, OK area

Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Research & Development, the Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of a new Recreational Consumer Electronic product development program from conception to market introduction.  He/she will be responsible for day-to-day management of project resources, scope, schedule and budget as well as other Project Manager personnel.  The Project Manager may be assigned sole responsibility for a project or assigned to lead a project management team on a large product development program.

Required for the Project Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the Engineering Sciences – software, electrical, mechanical, systems
  • PMP license highly desired
  • Minimum experience of 4 years in New Product Development Project Management, ideally consumer electronics
  • Experience with one or more recognized Project Management methodologies (Scrum, Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of process driven product development
  • Experience with project management of software development is an advantage
  • Experience managing third-party development partners and/or suppliers is a bonus
  • Proficient user of project scheduling software, e.g. MS Project
  • Consistent contributor, generally exceeding expectations
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Project Manager include the following:

  • Manage product development projects in accordance with the company’s Product Development (NPD) process, and, when necessary, delegate assignments within a large project to other project managers
  • Create and manage program/project budgets
  • Support program/project audits
  • Provide weekly project status reports
  • Create and conduct program reviews (gate reviews, Out-Of-Bounds reviews, etc.) for executive management and key stakeholders
  • Develop intricate knowledge of new products to educate others
  • Lead and motivate other organizational functions such as manufacturing, sourcing, planning, etc. to ensure the successful realization and launch of products
  • Other duties as may be assigned              

Secondary Functions for the Project Manager:

  • Facilitate global development within NPD and Project Management
  • Consult with executive management in the early stages of a project providing project estimations
  • Ability to work with third parties on design and manufacturing
  • Proactive in promoting the use of new and innovative project management strategies
  • Sharing of experience and knowledge with peers
  • Support R&D Global Leads in the ongoing improvement of the company’s  business and quality processes – specifically NPD
  • Write clear and concise test reports, daily logs, meeting minutes, in a timely manor
  • Coach and mentor Project Manager I/II; ensure NPD process is followed
  • Other duties may be assigned

Position Requires approximately 15% traveling – both domestic and international
