  • Occasional OT (approximately 4-8 hours per month)

Description:
Our client is seeking to hire a Maintenance Technician on a direct basis. The selected candidate will perform a variety of maintenance tasks on process equipment, ensure reliable operations of all process equipment, building materials, forklifts, etc., and maintain a safe environment for our clients’ team and products by complying with company policies, procedures, and all required regulatory standards (OSHA/FDA/BRC/DEP). To be considered, candidates must be able to work independently and have basic verbal/written communication skills, problem-solving/troubleshooting skills, and one of the following: Electrical/Welding or Fabricating/Mechanic experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Understands and complies with the company policies and procedures
  • Operates and maintains process equipment: Mixing, Wet Production, Drying, Packaging, etc.
  • Operates a forklift to transport supplies, unload/load freight, store and transport raw materials & finished products
  • Maintains equipment and light mechanical work
  • Reports any malfunctioning equipment to supervisor/management
  • Troubleshoots and locates sources of problems, removes defective parts, and repairs building and equipment as needed
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance and monitoring compliance
  • Responsible for Maintenance documentation: PM's, Project Hygiene Checks, Work Orders, etc.
  • Maintains basic equipment, parts, and supply inventories on hand
  • Troubleshoots and locates sources of problems, removes defective parts, and repairs building and equipment as needed
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance and monitoring compliance
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Maintains building for security
  • Responsible for routine & assigned plant sanitation procedures/SOP's using high-pressure water hoses and cleaning using brushes and washing equipment, tanks, floors, etc.
  • Works with manual and automated control systems, following operating procedures
  • Communicate well with team members, ask questions, and provide ideas/feedback to management
  • Confirms accuracy by working through department checklists
  • Record and maintains data on all company documents with accuracy and detail
  • Assists co-workers, cross training, and back up when needed
  • Ability to work among/with multiple departments: Production, Quality Control, Maintenance, Shipping/Receiving, Sanitation, etc.
  • Performs a wide variety of duties as assigned by Management

Work Environment:
(Indoor) Food Grade Manufacturing Facility. No refrigeration or boiler units/areas. Occasionally, outside tasks are required. Works in and around areas containing hazardous chemicals. Exposure to noise, heat, water, light dust, hazardous chemicals, and moving/heavy machinery. Company issued PPE required by all personnel.

Experience / Education / Knowledge / Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Industrial/Food Grade Manufacturing experience (Preferred)
  • OSHA/FDA/HACCP/GMP Training (Preferred)
  • 3+ years' experience in manufacturing (Preferred)
  • Safety oriented
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Manufacturing Training: Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Manufacturing experience (Preferred):
    • Forklift certified
    • Equipment maintenance and technical understanding
    • Following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, engineering specifications, etc.
  • Working knowledge of process equipment: electrical, motors, computerized controls, etc.
  • Experience with power tools
  • Proficient with computer programs including Microsoft Excel, Word, & Power Point
  • Basic verbal/written communication
  • Must be able to read, write, speak & understand English

Physical Demands:
  • Pre-employment physical and background check required
  • PPE:
    • Steel or Composite Toe Boots
    • Company issued: Eye & Hearing Protection, Hair net/Beard Net, & Cut Resistant Gloves
    • Additional PPE required for specific tasks
  • Able to regularly move about the facility in (seasonal) above and below temperatures
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger to handle or feel, and to reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
