Lead QA engineer:
Your technical acumen must be sufficient to understand and use technical tools for performance monitoring, security best practices, data quality assurance, automated testing, and business application troubleshooting. 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Ensure that technical specifications are documented, “business friendly”, and ultimately implemented within the solution in such a way that they resolve a business need 

  • Apply knowledge and experience with technology and application development methodologies to perform basic testing, debugging, and file design 

  • Serve as a key resource to the business for all facets of managing technical specifications related to solutions you are assigned to support 

  • Knowledge and experience leading meetings, small projects, or Agile SCRUM including the explanation of abstract topics such as data modeling, system design, and software quality assurance 

  • Manage production issues and incidents and participate in problem and change management forums. 

Responsibilities related to performing Data Analysis: 

  • Work with various stakeholders to identify information owners, data definitions/classifications, and relation to any controls framework implementation. 

  • Suggest changes to enhance the design, function and development of new/existing data structures. 

  • Develop visualizations to model data requirements and to identify data quality issues 

  • Coordinate with the Business Analysts to document data flows of sensitive information within the organization (e.g., PII or ePHI) and recommend controls to ensure this data is adequately secured (e.g., encryption, tokenization, etc.). 

Responsibilities related to Security and Systems Analysis: 

  • Communicate and train the user community on security challenges and practices to increase awareness of cyber security and information leakage risks. 

  • Collate security incident and event data to produce monthly exception and management reports for the solutions you are assigned to support. 

  • Draft security procedures and standards to be reviewed and approved by executive management and/or formally authorized by the CISO or the individual responsible for overall security direction. 

  • Review IT infrastructure and other reference architectures for security best practices and recommend changes to enhance security and reduce risk where applicable. 

  • Research, recommend, evaluate and implement information security solutions that identify and/or protect against potential threats, and respond to security violations. 

 

 

  • Manage the process of gathering, analyzing and assessing the current and future threat landscape, as well as providing the Security Program team with a realistic overview of risks and threats in the enterprise environment.

Competencies / KSA’s 

 

A System Analyst is expected to understand multiple disciplines and perform analysis across a variety of technical topics with increasing competency.  They must have sufficient experience to operate with minimal guidance.  As a result, 15 or more years performing technical systems analysis within a Property & Casualty Insurance carrier is preferred. 

Systems Analysts focused on Software Quality Assurance are required to demonstrate progressive experience and responsibility to define, document, and implement Software Development Lifecycle best practices and the following related technologies and techniques: 

 

  1. Use of Excel and Visio to define and analyze process requirements 

  1. Investigative analysis of software or data quality issues including review of issues within JIRA, interviews with stakeholders, data structures within databases and XML using the appropriate tools (e.g. MySQL Work Bench, TOAD or XMLSpy) including using scripting languages such as T-SQL, JavaScript, PERL, and/or VBScript 

  1. Understand the current and future state of a DevOps program with suggested improvements that you champion and lead including proactive test automation tools 

  1. Excellent verbal & written communications skills to explain SDLC concepts and related them to processes, procedures, and Agile ceremonies. 

  1. Ability to coach and lead others through root cause analysis and the use of quality reporting tools 

  1. Strong analytical skills to analyze security requirements and relate them to the protection of confidential data within the SDLC process. 

 

Systems Analysts focused on data solutions are required to demonstrate progressive experience and responsibility to define, document, and validate solution designs using the following analysis technologies and techniques: 

 

  1. Use of ER/Studio, Excel, and Visio to analyze and model data requirements 

  1. Investigative analysis of data structures within databases and XML using the appropriate tools (e.g. MySQL Work Bench, TOAD or XMLSpy) including using scripting languages such as T-SQL, JavaScript, PERL, and/or VBScript 

  1. Defining and configuring reports using Tableau Desktop and Server because of data analysis activities 

  1. Excellent verbal & written communications skills to explain data models and reporting concepts such as star schemas, facts, measures, and querying. 

  1. Ability to coach and lead others through data issues, root cause analysis, and the use of reporting tools 

  1. Strong analytical skills to analyze security requirements and relate them to the protection of confidential data with appropriate security controls.
