This position is remote based, but candidates must reside in the continental United States.


This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Metro West area of Boston with a major player in the manufacturing / software industry! They provide companies with the most technologically advanced and comprehensive product cost management software available on the market today. The company is private, with about 150+ total employees with about 60 people on the engineering team. They are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to advance their Cloud offering and provide leadership / guidance to their on and off-shore based teams.

About the job:

  • This is a senior position with emphasis on Java back end, but expert knowledge with front end tech stacks is desired.
  • Looking for leadership qualities to help guide the team. This person will help update their cloud offering as they pivot to a true cloud architecture and bring their product to a new level.
  • API’s written in Java are being consumed – this is a cloud F/E build in Java calling React/Redux so knowledge of Java and Java tools are important. There is a lot of relational work and the new hire will need to understand that.
  • A lot runs on windows in the cloud – they are trying to move towards Linux. Java is still key - it’s still going to be a Java, Microservice architecture.
  • This person would help ‘heard the cattle’ with some of their remote European Developers.
  • Prioritize technology initiatives, provide good oversight of the code and act like senior supervisor. Focusing on moving the release along – phase 1 in April & phase 2 in August. Tight timelines. Basically they have a client push on ‘demand’ and they don’t have the infrastructure with their 15+ year old code base.

Required:

  • Proven ability to help lead and drive small to medium sized software teams: technical direction, design and coding oversight, prioritization
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • 4+ years of Java development experience
  • 3+ years of development with JavaScript frameworks (React, Redux, Angular, Vue, Node.)
  • Demonstrable experience designing and delivering complex web architectures
  • Expertise in designing and developing RESTful services
  • Experience with one or more ORM frameworks such as Hibernate
  • Experience in SaaS/Cloud application development, including an understanding of security concerns and multi-tenancy.
  • Skilled at object-oriented analysis, design and programming
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a project team
  • Enjoy taking on challenging problems with small high-caliber teams
  • BS in Computer Science or other technical discipline

Desired:

  • Demonstrable experience with one or more open source technologies
  • Expertise in database techniques/tools such as data modeling, MySQL, Oracle, SQL. etc.
